Class Descriptions

P2M classes focus on specific fitness and skill elements that are essential to increase your power, endurance and speed.  Fun and challenging, these power-based classes will help you reach your full potential this cycling season.  Please check out the schedule for class descriptions on on-going classes, but below you will see we have 2 new classes starting in June and July.

CycleSmart with Michi Seagrist –  June 8th to July 6th – Wednesday Evenings 5:30 to 6:30 PM

We are very excited to welcome Spin instructor extraordinaire Michi to P2M.  She will bring her legendary play lists and energy to this class.  The class will focus on learning your Power and Heart Rate training zones and how to recognize them while riding.  We will discuss why cadence is important and how to use it to your advantage to pace correctly for endurance events.  Additionally we will learn and practice shifting techniques by simulating riding on rollers outside.  During these exercises you will be able to see your power output and how even small hills can drastically change your power output and how to manage that to succeed in your endurance events.   There will be a break for this class through the end of July but will start back up in early to Mid August and be and ongoing class on Wednesday evenings.

Time Trialing and Pacing with Roy Sturm – Starting Week of July 11 – Monday 5:45-7:15 PM or Wednesday 5:45 to 7:15 AM or Thursday 6:30 to 8:00 PM

P2M is also excited to welcome Roy Sturm and his long running Time Trialing and Pacing class.  He has been teaching this class for years on spin bikes, but this year we are converting it to a power based class and it will be 10 weeks of hard work to make improve your Threshold power and speed on the bike.  This 90 minute class will be offered at 3 separate times during the week.  You can not switch classes during the week, you will have to attend the class time that you sign up for, but makeup times will be available.  This new combined training platform is ideal for Time Trialists, Triathletes, and general cyclists wanting to improve their overall performance. The series will challenge your upper limits, build power and strength, increase your fitness level and outdoor performance through weekly increased intensity levels during the series. Learn pacing techniques for improved efficiency and realize and see measurable improvement by training with Power on the Computrainer computerized system.

The first class will include a power test to determine your Fuctional Threshold Power and your Functional Threshold Heart Rate.
